Journeys: The Legacy of Harriet Tubman
written and performed by Deborah Wright

"I was so caught up in the show, that for a moment, I forgot it was an actor and not the real Harriet on stage!" exclaims an audience member at the Baltimore Museum of Industry

Maryland history comes to life in the twenty-first century with Deborah Wright’s captivating performance as Harriet Tubman. This talented actress combines dramatic interpretation and song as she follows Harriet’s childhood through to her trips on the Underground Railroad. This inspirational story of strength, courage and faith is one that captures the struggle of an enslaved woman to be free. Ms. Wright has been bringing the Harriet Tubman story to audiences for ten years. Her performances receive standing ovations for her beautiful portrayal that touches the hearts of her audiences.

MARY KATHERINE GODDARD: COLONIAL PRINTER
Hear how this Maryland colonial woman was ahead of her time having a career as a printer. Learn of challenges she faced during the colonial period and how she became the first printer to publish the names of the brave signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Grade Level: 3 – Adults

MEET ELIZABETH: A MODERN WOMAN OF THE 1920’s
This fictitious character talks about growing up in the Victorian era as well as her life during the roaring twenties. As she sings songs of her time period, she teaches audience members the waltz and the charleston dances.

VOICES: 19TH CENTURY WOMEN STILL SPEAK
Through dramatic diary readings, slave narratives and music, Kathy Sewell is joined by Elaine Foster as they tell the joys and hardships of incredible “ordinary” women as they deal with courting, work, death, politics, loneliness and speaking out rhrough the eyes of white middle class and African American women.

HENRY FORD & HIS MODEL T
“I had lots of fun playing Edsel!” shares a 4th grade student at a Baltimore Museum of Industry performance.

The story of the great businessman and inventor Henry Ford is brought to life in this interactive musical tribute as it follows his quest to invent and manufacture his Model T and his revolutionary concept of the moving assembly line.

MR FLAGG’S MARYLAND MY MARYLAND
Through songs and stories, Mr. Flagg will educate young audiences with the history, people and geography of the great state of Maryland. From translating the state motto of “Fatti Maschii, Parole Femine” to presenting the state bird, and state flower, Mr Flagg gets assistance from the children as they learn about this original colony of our nation.
Grade Level: 2-4

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS
A delegate from the 18th century will bring America’s 1770’s to life with songs “The Boston Tea Party”, “The Minute Men”, “The Women of the Revolution” and many more toe-tapping tunes. George Washington, The Declaration of Independence and all of the events during the colonial uprisings against King George and England are presented in this interactive tribute from Adams to Washington.
